Yes, my Anxiety is Really Kicking in
October 20, 2025
Planning for a conference is stressful. You spend so much time thinking about all the things you need to bring (swag! scissors! hand sanitizer!) and worry about which hotel is the right combination of walkability and low traffic noise.
You set up some events — meetings, breakfasts, dinners — and get ready to see old friends and make new ones. You look forward to the awesome parties that your deep-pocketed competitors are going to throw, and hope you’re invited. Outfits are planned, including a new T-shirt design and coordinating team quarter-zips.
And if your CEO is like my CEO, you worry A LOT about keeping the whole adventure under budget.
And then, all of a sudden, the conference is right around the corner. And the excitement really starts to build.
We’re a small startup. And this conference we’re going to, GitHub Universe, is our big debut. We’re going to show up as a Bronze Sponsor and tell the world about this product we’ve spent the last 12 months building. We’re so excited we’re about to burst at the seams. We just can’t wait to demo CodeCargo to all the GitHubbers and GitHub customers who will be strolling the Fort Mason conference center next week.
So, I’m asking for a bit of luck, maybe some kind wishes, some good weather, and for the travel gods to bless us as we head out West on our big adventure. Hopefully ten days from now, we’ll all be exhausted, jet-lagged, and saying “we did it!” – with a bunch of potential customers to follow up with and the excitement of having launched a product out into the universe (literally, the GitHub Universe.)
So, we’re off to San Francisco... GitHub Universe, here we come!!
